We made it through winter. And even though it really wasn’t too bad this year, brighter days, warmer temperatures and fewer layers make getting out on weekends just a little bit easier. Whether indoors or out, there are plenty of Montreal family activities April 2024 has to offer.
Old Montreal Activities – Opening in April
As the weather warms up, the Old Port reopens some of its most family favourite activities. The zipline is already open now, on weekends. The giant ropes course pirate ship Voiles en Voiles opens April 6th. And the SOS Labyrinthe maze opens on April 27th.
Spring for All – Weekends until April 28
The Botanical Gardens is ushering in spring, with 4 weekends full of fun and learning. This free event at the Frédéric Back Tree Pavilion will give your family a chance to reconnect with nature. There will be various workshops on urban agriculture, plants and gardening, and activities including an arts & crafts nature hive, story workshops and dancing too.
Solar Eclipse at the Science Centre – April 8
School has been cancelled for this once in a lifetime event and the Science Centre is hosting a viewing party to make it even more special. In partnership with Cirque du Soleil, the afternoon includes circus animation, science education, free glasses and an outdoor viewing gathering. The event begins at 1pm with scientific activities taking place between 2pm and 4:30pm. This event is free for all.
Pyjama Morning MMFA – April 13
The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is opening its doors to families for a morning of art and creation. Come dressed in your pyjamas (adults too!) and explore the world of O’Keefe and Moore, the museum’s newest exhibit. The 2-hour session includes a painting and sculpture workshop, dance workshops, a photo booth and sweet treats from Bernie Beigne and La Chouette. Reservations are required, kids are free and adults are $24.
Electric Vehicle Show – April 19-21
This family-friendly event takes place at the Olympic Stadium and features electric vehicles and hybrids. Even if you’re not on the market for a new car, it’s a fun event to attend with kids as there are electric bikes, Go Karts, scooters and more. Last year, the event featured a track where you could test out some of these vehicles. Kids under 12 are free and tickets for adults are $16.
PWHL – April 20
The professional women’s hockey league is coming to the Bell Centre for a 1pm game against Toronto. While tickets sold out super quickly, you can still purchase some resale seats online.
Esquive – April 24-28
Visit Tohu this spring for a circus-inspired show featuring 6 acrobats and 3 trampolines. The performance is ideal for children 6+ and is about an hour long. Multiple showings are available but the March 28th performance at 2pm is being dubbed as a more relaxed show. Tickets range between $20-$52.
Harlem Globetrotters – April 26-27
Basketball is back in Montreal with two shows of the Harlem Globetrotters. On April 26th they will be playing at the Bell Centre at 7pm and on April 27th at Place Bell in Laval at 2pm. Be sure to bring along your sharpies and swag for signatures. Tickets start at $21.
