It’s gotta be May. Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, Victoria Day weekend – there’s a lot to celebrate, and get excited about this month. But beyond Hallmark holidays there are tons of amazing Montreal family activities May 2024 has to offer – from the science lab to the big top tent to carnival rides!

Fun Show Amusement – May 2 – June 2

Spring is definitely in the air when you drive by a mall parking lot and see the ferris wheel and carnival rides from a travelling fair. Fun Show Amusement will be visiting Carrefour Angrignon from May 2-12, Place Vertu from May 16-26 and Place Rosemere from May 16-June 2. From carousels to bumper cars to the Ferris wheel, you can purchase tickets per ride or buy a bracelet for unlimited entry for $37.

May at Pointe-à-Callière Museum – May 2-5

This Old Montreal museum kicks off the month, and the summer season, on May 3rd with Summer on the Pointe which is ongoing until September. This special event features free entry to a slew of activities which will be announced soon. On May 4th and 5th, participate in 24 Hours of Science at the Youville Pumping Station to discover the science of water. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo on May 5th from 12pm-4pm with Mexican culture on display and live music.

Dinosaur World Live – May 7

If you didn’t get a chance to see this show of Jurassic proportions when it came to the Bell Centre last year, it’s back at Place des Arts for one night only (6:30pm). The 50-minute show for kids ages 3+ features animatronic life-size dinosaurs, special effects and more. Tickets are still available and range in price between $52-$85.

Banquet at the Science Centre – May 16 until 2025

The Science Centre’s newest exhibit opens with a focus on food. Embark on a culinary experience with themed exhibits from the kitchen to the dining room. Guests will be able to cook, taste and learn about the history of food. This exhibit comes from Paris but has been adapted to Montreal and focuses on local cuisine and chefs like Normand Laprise.

La Ronde Opening – May 18

Montreal’s amusement park officially opens for the season with a new feature this year: Dinoparc. Touted as being a new world where dinosaurs come to life, with two new rides in a sailboat and safari train. Don’t forget to consider a season’s pass if you plan on going multiple times, which also gives you access to Firework evenings.

Eureka – May 24-26

Quebec’s largest science festival takes place on Parc Jean Drapeau at the Biosphere. The 3-day event is free to all and will feature over 100 activities. Find something for everyone – women in wind power, a bridge building challenge, eco-powered boats, slime making and so much more!

Cirque du Soleil Kurios – May 23 – July 14

Head to the big top for 125 minutes of exhilarating entertainment featuring acrobats, clowns and other fantastic performers in this family-friendly circus. Show times make it accessible to all with matinees, early evening and nighttime performances. Check out their website for all types of specials.

Tour la Nuit – May 31

Ready to ride? Take the whole family out on an excursion to Jeanne Mance Parc. If you’re up for a challenge partake in the 24km bike ride through the city. If not, join the festivities and watch participants in costumes and lit up bikes and plenty of entertainment. Registration for kids under 12 is free, teens are just $8.70 and adults are $35.
