Montreal Family Activities February 2024

It’s officially the month to celebrate winter. With snow on the ground and kids back in routine, make the most of the weekends with community-based winter carnivals, local festivals and indoor outings. Here are some of my favourite Montreal family activities February 2024 has to offer!

Community Winter Carnivals – Throughout the Month

Here are just a few of local municipality winter carnivals taking place in February:

February 1-3: Westmount
February 3: Dollard des Ormeaux
February 4: Cote Saint Luc
February 7-10: Dorval
February 10: NDG
February 11: Hampstead

Poutine Week – February 1-7

Not that you need an excuse to eat Poutine but this culinary event is back, this time across the country! Sample inventive poutines like the poutine burrito from Cora, the carribean poutine from Time Out Market or the poutine umami from Le Petit Sao. Log your poutines online for a chance to win a Door Dash gift card.

New Family Art Workshops – February 3 – June

The Museum of Fine Arts launches it new programs for the winter/spring season. Small hands is for kids 2-5 years old. Bodies in Nature focuses on sculpture for kids under 12. In the Studio, coincides with the launch of the Georgia O’Keefe exhibit, where kids under 12 will craft with items from nature. Free with registration online or in-person.

Women & Girls of Science – February 10

The Montreal Science Centre is hosting a day just for women for its 7th edition of this special event. Female scientists will be on-hand to inspire, educate and explain different STEM career paths. The day will feature interactive activities as well as access to the museum’s exhibits. Tickets range $17.50-$27.

Valentine’s Day with Barbie – February 18

Celebrate the day of all things pink, a few days late, at Wow Moms World Montreal. This 11am event will feature life size Barbie boxes, perfect for photo opps, a dance party, cotton candy, arts & crafts and more. Registration required. $35/child, $10/adult

Montreal Boreal – February 17 – March 10

The Mile End celebrates winter during the 2nd edition of this outdoor festival that takes place at Sir George Etienne Cartier Square. Over the course of 4 weekends, participate in fun activities like fat biking, axe throwing, snowshoeing and more. Burton will be hosting toddler snowboarding lessons too! And be sure to step into the giant igloo for fun activities like yoga. Food will be on-site including delicacies from Tuck Shop and maple syrup on snow. During the first weekend, there will be a Winterpaw Festival for furry friends!

Canadiens Skill Competition – February 25

The most family-friendly “game” of the year, with tickets for just $12-$14! At 10am, the team will take to the ice for shooting accuracy tests, fastest skater competitions and more. All proceeds benefit the Canadiens Children Foundation.

Disney on Ice – February 28 – March 3

You know spring break is approaching when Disney takes to the ice! Magic in the Stars is the show this time around featuring Frozen 2, Encanto, Aladdin, Tiana and Toy Story. There will only be 2 English shows this year, at 7pm on Thursday and 3pm on Sunday. The show takes place at Place Bell in Laval and tickets range between $21-$55.

Montreal en Lumiere – February 29 – March 10

Place des Festivals keeps the holiday lights going with this festival. Go skating, ride the ferris wheel or visit the food trucks and pop up restaurants while you’re there. Luminotherapie is still on too!
